So after discussing this amongst a number of people, we've decided to implement monthly editorial themes here at Otome Jikan. I personally thought it was really cool to read about people's favorite characters for the Valentine's Day special. There was also a pretty good response, so continuing along that vein, we'll be coming up with different editorial topics/themes that change every month!
Note: You can still submit regular, non-themed editorials if you want (or even post using an old theme as inspiration), but if you're stumped for ideas, now there's a monthly theme that you can try your hand at. This will also help, we hope, during periods when there's not as much news, as there will now always a potential for new material that's a bit more focused.
If you have any ideas for potential themes, head on over to the forums and leave your suggestions! We may also turn this into a contest during certain months, but we'll need to discuss that further first.
Anyway! The theme for March is favorite female character(s). Show your love for the often-underappreciated girls of otome games with a 500-word (or more!) essay about one of your favorites. Like with the Valentine's Day special, you may submit multiple entries, but please try to space them out so we're not flooded with posts. You can talk about any character as long as the character identifies as female and is from an otome game—so this needn't be a heroine/main character unless that's what you want.
We're giving you guys a bit of extra time to pick your favorite characters and decide on what you want to do; submissions will be accepted and posted all throughout March. The deadline is March 31st, but the April theme will probably be posted a few days before that to, again, give people a bit more wiggle room. If you need posting access, just ping a staffer. Happy writing!
