Diabolik Lovers is an otome game based off from the drama CD of the same title. It focuses more on 6 Do-S vampire brothers who, in each of their own CD, try to drink your blood in a rather unexpected way. They would do anything in great lengths just to get a hold of your blood, even going as far as to discard everything. The CDs are directed to the listeners, as well as the dummy mic present, and this time as Rejet collaborates with Otomate, this game was born and a main character that goes by the name of Komori Yui is created as a resemblance to the listeners.
My first impression on this game was of the Sakamaki brothers whom all are Do-S. At first it may sound scary but as the game progresses you could actually find yourself being dragged along as well, depending on the choices you make on each scenario. The game has 3 modes, mainly Dark, Maniac and Ecstasy. The first six scenarios are to raise the love stats of your chosen brother, and the last four are for Do-S and Do-M choices. Each brother has three endings, which can be unlocked depending on how you make certain decisions. At the end of these four routes there are also three certain words that you will choose.
The plot is very well explained, especially to the brothers' flashbacks of the past. We are able to know why some of the brothers hate each other. The introduction of their mothers were also a good key point, because without the mothers' involvement in the game we would not be able to understand the brothers more. We also see more on the background of the main character, Yui.
Voice actors for the game were the same ones in the drama CD. They were all excellent in using the dummy mic and the way they deliver their lines suit their character very well. I was impressed on the game's voice acting, as I did not expect it to escalate in a level much more better than the CDs. The art, as I have stated above is very well done. Considering this is Rejet, there is no doubt that the art would be very classy and gothic-like in appearance. All in all, this game is pretty much interesting in its own way. If you are up for some vampire romance with a touch of pain, then this game is for you.
The main character. She is a 17-year old student who lives with her father, who owns a church. She was forced to live in a mansion with 6 mysterious people who, much to her shock, were actually vampires. At first she didn't believe they were real but came to accept them later on. In a struggle for survival she decides to live with them, while bearing the fear of being attacked by each of them. As time progresses, she learns a lot of things about herself that she didn't think she had...
Her personality varies on the choices you make in every route. Whether it be Do-S or Do-M, it's up to the player.
THE SAKAMAKI BROTHERS
They are the six vampires who own the mansion, spearheaded by the oldest brother Shuu. They reluctantly accept Yui in their humble home, with drastic and unexpected results...
The oldest of the triplets. He refers to himself most of the time as "ore-sama" and he calls Yui "chichinashi". Ayato loves to tease Yui, much to her dismay. Ayato is quite the rebel and has a passion with torture devices such as the iron maiden. That very device is just around his room. He is also the type who always brags about himself, sometimes asking everyone to call him Ayato-sama. It is also noted that he eats a lot. He often gets into arguments with his brothers because of his rebellious attitude.
The youngest of the six. A vampire who is usually out alone and never cares about what's happening around him, Subaru is of the silent type. He sleeps in a coffin, which is also inside his very own room. However, he easily gets angry and resorts to violence, going as far as to try and break everything when he gets extremely angered. He manages to suppress this side when he is around Yui, but is still prone to outbursts. There is a tsundere side about him that only Yui can see.
The youngest of the triplets. Despite being the oldest of the three, Kanato is actually the one who tends to cry a lot, and gets angry when Yui doesn't give him what he wants. He is always in demand for something and wants it right away, and when he doesn't get it his demeanor changes. Setting aside that, he is quite attached to Yui. Kanato loves to eat a lot of sweets, most especially cakes. And he would not leave his room without bringing his precious Teddy, his best friend, alongside him.
The second of the triplets. Laito acts extremely perverted, and that was the sole reason he was suspended a lot of times in school. He calls Yui "bitch-chan" endearingly, and always gets in her way just to drink her blood by perverted means. Laito is both a Do-M and a Do-S. He is always cheerful, loves to joke and bubbly and similar to Ayato when teasing Yui, but his personality suddenly drops when something goes not by his wishes, which is most of the time Yui being too defiant around him.
The second oldest. Considered the most calm-like vampire of them all, and who seems to have a "polite" aura around him. He always speaks in a formal demeanor, and wants everything and anything organized. Reiji wants rules to be followed, and if not there will be an appropriate "punishment". This bespectacled man loves to drink tea, and he is basically the most responsible of all the Sakamaki brothers. He is also fond of making medicines and potions as part of his experiment, tends to do a lot of research and under that smirk of his depicts a more interesting side of him.
The oldest, and the master of the Sakamaki mansion. Shuu allows Yui to live in their mansion just because he was contacted and not out of pity. A vampire who is usually seen sleeping or dozing off in the living room or the school's music room, Shuu is lazy enough to do almost anything, and Yui nees to do a lot of persuasion in order to get him awake. According to the students of the school Shuu is the owner of the music room and is always there. Shuu loves classical music, ranging from piano to violin.
