密会 Secret Tryst Vol. 1 ~不器用な口づけ~
仁木蒼 (CV: 日野聡) / Niki Aoi (CV: Hino Satoshi)
Release Date: December 21st 2012
This drama CD series is about how love develops in situations that just cannot be shown to anyone, for example, teacher/student relationships or an idol's love life, etc...
Aoi is the cheerful and a "my pace" character that couldn't really care less about his studies and just wants to enjoy life. He also has a slight teasing side to him, he especially likes slightly teasing adults. Well, maybe a bit more than slight...
The whole situation in a nutshell is that you, the listener, is an English teacher at a high school. In the beginning, you call Aoi to the staffroom to get him to take some supplementary classes alone with you since he's majorly failing English. And since he's in his 3rd year, majorly failing any subject would be worrying, since he needs to pass everything to at least get into university. Over several lessons, he starts to actually go to these lessons willingly (gradually) and takes a liking into actually working in them and most importantly, he starts to fall in love with you. But since this is a forbidden love, you constantly reject him because that's how it's meant to work... unfortunately. However, in the end, after all of the conflict, it is a pretty good happy ending.
When you tell him that he's just "a precious student" and that you "like him only as a student", he breaks on the inside and avoids you, saying that he really doesn't like your lessons. With force, you get talk to him a few times, however on all accounts, he sounds either bored or sad. Even when you aren't involved in anything, he loses the will to do things that he would normally do, like hang out with friends and be his cheery self. When you call his home number, Aoi picks up and after the usual questioning of "Why don't you go to my classes anymore?" you ask him to come to school, even though it's night time. Although he's reluctant, he goes anyways, since he says that it's the last time they'll talk [about the situation]. Upon his arrival, you stay silent. He spills everything out to you, saying that you're the reason for his current state but he knows it's not your fault since you're just doing your job as a teacher. At the peak of his rant, he begs you to say that you love him. He can't stop thinking about you and really wants to see you everyday but he's really scared and unsure since he feels that this is unrequited, so he wants to hear it from you. He adds that if you don't like him, he'll give up since he's used to it. You don't give him a direct answer but you do give some indirect signs, like being interested in why he's used to giving up and keeping the sharpener that you gave to him but he gave back. In an earlier track, you gave him the sharpener to use for one of his tests and in the end, he did pretty well. You told him not to give up and to keep trying and one day, it'll pay off. So Aoi interprets you giving the sharpener to him again as if he tries hard and doesn't give up, one day, he'll get your love. Well, he interprets it like that anyways. He tells her that he'll try his best not only for his exams, but for your love, adding that from then onwards, he won't need her classes as he'll focus on his own.
So in the spring, he comes running to the staffroom and tells you that he passed. Apparently he ran from the station and he starts complaining that he hasn't run like that in ages but you stop him by hugging him. He explains that when he wanted to give up, he saw the sharpener and began to try harder. You let him go but he hugs you again and he explains that even though he hasn't been as close with you like before with the classes, during that time, he's fallen more in love with you. He tells you that he loves you but you don't give him a direct answer, you hug him tighter instead. He kisses you, though it gets a big messy, so he does it again LOL You tell him that you don't mind being kissed and him teasing you (since you still won't say you like him) so long as it's not in the school. He asks you to call you Aoi instead of Niki-kun though you get red in the process so he calls you cute. Note, he calls you cute 1232546323452 times and forgives you for that reason. Okay that's probably exaggeration but its true, he says it a lot. In the end, he tells you to prepare yourself for the future, the future with Aoi and yourself.
In the free talk, for the first question, Hinocchi says that his favorite position for the dummy head mic is right in the front right to the ears. He continues talking about the mic, explaining what the mic looks like as well as how difficult it is to use since it's actually real movement. He moves on to explaining Aoi's character and he gives his opinion of the drama CD's female teacher/male student relationship... based on experience. Bonus: his first experience with that sort of relationship was in kindergarten :3 He then says a (rather teasing) line as Aoi and wraps the whole thing up.
7.0 For the first CD of this series, I'm not really too sure how to give it my opinion since it's the only one so far... but I'll give it good points for using the dummy head mic with Hinocchi☆ For those who don't know what the dummy head mic is, the only way I can explain it is it's very, very, very, very good for the ears. Very good. VEEEERY GOOD. Trust me, Hinocchi does a great job with the mic and he uses his almost low voice so that's another load of good points in my book.
In terms of story, I think it's really different, since you're the one teaching, not learning. Also, "you", despite the fact that I'll admit I did have a slight dislike for her at times, I can at least say she's different. And she's not THAT typical. In simple terms, she's not a doormat and has a personality, but at most times throughout the CD, chances are it'll be the opposite of what you want. But then, this is a secret love so hey, I guess things have to work that way. With Aoi, to be honest, I actually like his character. He's just an outgoing, fresh person who wants to enjoy life and likes to tease people (
opposite of what I am ahaha) on the outside but he hides his true self under a shield. And when his true self comes out, he's more honest and open, despite the fact that he's really negative and albeit aggressive. T0 me, the two characters show the line drawn between adult and teenagers and exactly why this love is forbidden. But then that's me :D
Overall, this CD is something I would recommend to people experienced with the dummy head mic and/or can cope with having "you" being
extremely thickheaded in terms of love. I can also recommend it if you're looking for something different as not many CD's have this sort of scenario where you're the teacher and you're the older one (by a lot) in the relationship. Oh, I can also recommend it if you like Hinocchi.
Just a head's up, Vol. 2 (CV: Ono Yuuki) comes out on January 25th and Vol. 3 (CV: Nojima Kenji) comes out on the February 22nd. Vol. 4 is still in the planning stages.
